Definitely! We totally understand that people have busy schedules and we appreciate all the time our volunteers are able to give to us. If you think you might be able to make half the practices, then we recommend you sign up as an 'Occasional Volunteer'.
Definitely! We can always use a hand, in rare occasions our sports reach capacity for number of volunteers and athletes allowed in a space.
Please be advised that you must be 14 years of age or older to be a volunteer with Special Olympics. If you are between 14 and 18, you will join as a Junior Coaching Volunteer.
All volunteers 18 years of older must complete a valid PVSC (Police Vulnerable Sector Check). Therefore, whenever you turn 18, you will be required to provide a PVSC.
There is a small charge for the PVSC. But as part of our appreciation for our volunteers, we will reimburse you once you send us your receipt.

To be a coach, you need to be a volunteer with Special Olympics plus additional training requirements.
A Head Coach is required for each sport to run. When teams are attending competitions, only Coached (Head Coaches or Assistant Coaches) are allowed to sit on the bench with the teams or attend Provincials with the team.
Please see document below which describes all training requirements for the additional training to become a Coach.
